Our alumni consistently pointed to the founding team as the primary differentiator. Dan Lasker (CEO) and Naor Haziz (CTO) are both Black Hat conference speakers with elite military intelligence backgrounds. As former accelerator participants ourselves, we know that selection committees weigh founding team credibility above almost everything else — and this team has it in abundance.

The traction metrics reinforce the consensus. Eight enterprise customers. Approximately $3M in annual recurring revenue. Growth exceeding 350% year-over-year. All achieved on a $5M seed round from Sequoia Scout. That capital efficiency is exactly the kind of signal ICON Spark's committee has historically rewarded in past cohorts.

Alumni who have worked in cybersecurity or adjacent fields highlighted the technical benchmarks: a 97.2% detection rate and sub-90-second mean time to response. Several alumni noted these metrics outperform established vendors, which is remarkable for a seed-stage company. The AI-native architecture was cited as a genuine technical differentiator rather than a marketing label.

#2: CloudGuard AI — 12%

CloudGuard AI received the second-highest vote share at 12%. Alumni recognized their cloud security automation platform as addressing a real market need. However, multiple respondents noted that the competitive landscape in cloud security is more crowded than threat detection, which likely explains the gap behind Vigilance. Alumni from cybersecurity programs flagged that CloudGuard's team, while strong, lacks the elite credentials that make Vigilance's founders stand out.

#3: ThreatCanvas — 7%

ThreatCanvas earned 7% for their threat intelligence visualization platform. Alumni appreciated the product differentiation but questioned whether visualization alone represents a large enough market for ICON Spark's portfolio strategy. Several respondents noted promising early traction but less impressive growth metrics compared to the leaders.

#4-10: The Rest of the Field

SecureChain (3%), AuthentiKey (2%), and CyberScope (1%) received meaningful but small vote shares. The remaining candidates — PhishGuard AI, NetSentinel, DataFortress, and VaultSync — received fewer than 2 votes each. Alumni commented that these companies show potential but lack the combination of team depth, traction, and technical differentiation that defines a clear ICON Spark candidate.

Confidence Score Analysis

Beyond raw vote share, we calculate a confidence score that measures voting consistency and conviction. Vigilance Security's confidence score of 0.91 is the highest we have ever recorded. For context, the average confidence score for a #1-ranked startup in our polls is 0.64. A score above 0.85 has historically predicted actual selection with 89% accuracy across all programs.

The confidence score accounts for several factors: first-choice vote concentration, alumni program-weighting (ICON Spark alumni weighted 1.5x), cross-program agreement (whether alumni from different programs converge on the same pick), and response conviction (whether respondents ranked the candidate #1 versus #2 or #3). Vigilance Security scored highest on all four dimensions.
